Alcatel-Lucent and Telefonica in Spain have completed a successful trial that used a mixture of 100, 200 and 400Gbps data links over a single fiber optic pair.
The trial that has been run is the first in which a mix of links was used to transfer data at speeds of 100, 200 and 400Gbpsusing wavelength-division multiplexing technology. It was also run over 650 kilometers.
Last month Brocade, Avago, JDS Uniphase, Molex and TE Connectivity created a joint venture to look at the development of integrated transceiver modules for 400Gbps networks.
