From 1st March, Sage will no longer sell Sage 50 accounts software on a perpetual basis via direct sales.
Sage 50 Accounts is now available only on a subscription or support contract basis. There is one final chance to purchase a perpetual licence via Sage accredited business partners including HW Technology.
HW Technology have a deadline-extension up to 31 March 2017. Once this date has passed, there will be no way in which you can upgrade your software without moving to a subscription model, although if you currently have a support contract then you will continue to be able to upgrade via this.
If you don’t have a support contract in place, then in order to upgrade your software’s perpetual licence you must act soon.
Perpetual licences are purchased on a one-off cost basis, and if you tend to get a few years of use out of your Sage 50 software then this method is often the most cost effective way to purchase 50 Accounts.
For businesses that use their Sage 50 software for many years without upgrading, you should strongly consider upgrading to Sage 50 2017. This will be the last time you can upgrade your software on a perpetual basis.
Once the deadline of 31 March has passed then, unless you already have a support contract in place, you will need to purchase a subscription to upgrade your software.
In some cases, subscription based licences can be very cost effective. If you would like HW Technology to review your position, please contact us here.
Sage have also recently released Sage 50c – the hybrid cloud enabled version of Sage 50. Again, this is sold only on a subscription basis and may be cost effective in some circumstances.
