So what’s new and possibly exciting for Android users who will be upgraded to KitKat, hopefully I can delve a little into this and help.
The biggest single change on the new version is that memory requirements have been reduced, massively.
KitKat will be able to run on devices with just 512MB – this is a key development as it now opens up a larger market place for the Android ecosystem reaching down to very low end devices.
But what else has changed..?
* Low power sensors – These in theory will help manage the battery life of the device and improve the time between charges
* Infrared blaster support – you might well have a universal remote controller in your hand!
* Mobile printing – Improved print API and improved printing support from your device
* Full immersive screen mode – allows applications to take advantage of the whole screen for rendering the display without having the need for tool bars etc…
Obviously KitKat has more to it than just this but hopefully this has given you a little more information on what is coming to devices near you soon.
